Cheng Baozhi

Dr. Baozhi CHENG is the Associate Research Fellow with Shanghai Institutes for International Studies (SIIS), one of the leading official think-tanks in China. His major study fields cover the Arctic governance, international law, and European Union law. At present, he is the co-chair on Arctic studies in SIIS sponsored by China’s Arctic & Antarctic Administration and the Polar Research Institute of China. Dr. CHENG was a visiting scholar on EU Arctic policy during his stay in SWP Berlin (Stiftung Wissenschaft und Politik) in 2012, and a visiting fellow on U.S. Arctic Strategy in CSIS (Center for Strategy and International Studies, Washington D.C.) from January to April 2014. As a prominent Chinese scholar on polar policy and law, Dr. Cheng has been invited to present his views on Arctic governance and cooperation at international forums such as International Congress of Arctic Social Sciences (ICASS) VIII, Arctic Shipping Forum, Arctic Circle Assembly, and SIPRI Workshop on China-Nordic Arctic Cooperation, etc. Dr. CHENG has published extensively on Arctic governance and China’s involvement in some Chinese leading academic journals and newspapers.
